From August 7 to 8, the 2025 Mining Frontier and Information Technology & Intelligence Annual Conference, hosted by the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, was held in Huangshi City, Hubei Province. DFMC was invited to attend the conference, where it showcased its intelligent mining and beneficiation achievements developed with advanced technologies such as neutron activation for high-precision elemental analysis, big data, and artificial intelligence. These innovations help enterprises effectively ensure safe production, improve the comprehensive utilization rate of mineral resources, and achieve a win-win in both safety and efficiency.
At the conference, DFMC also introduced the research, development, and application achievements of its unmanned drilling rig system. This system assisted China Coal Pingshuo Group in developing China’s first unmanned drilling rig, and has been promoted and applied in multiple mining enterprises, advancing the unmanned operation of mining and achieving intrinsic safety.
The conference, themed "Large Models Accelerating the Digital and Intelligent Transformation of Mines," aimed to provide systematic support for the intelligent transformation of China’s mining industry, promote the establishment of a new mining landscape that is safe, efficient, green, and intelligent, stimulate industrial development vitality, and foster new drivers of economic growth.
Nearly 500 leaders, experts, and professionals from government authorities, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, industry associations, and mining enterprises gathered to "diagnose the industry’s development" and offer insights and strategies for achieving high-quality growth in the sector.
DFMC showcased its advanced intelligent mining and beneficiation products at Booth 19, including an intelligent inspection and assay system, a neutron activation online slurry grade analyzer, a grinding expert system, and an equipment failure prediction and health management system. These products cover multiple key stages of the mining and beneficiation process and can meet enterprises' urgent needs in cost control, quality management, and safe production.
At the same time, the company's intelligent mining project cases—developed for Western Mining Group, Jiangxi Copper Group, China Railway Resources Luming Mining, and China Baowu Ma'anshan Iron & Steel Mining—which have reached internationally leading or advanced levels, received high praise from numerous industry experts. These projects serve as exemplary models for the transformation and upgrading of the mining industry.
At the Intelligent Equipment and Unmanned Systems sub-forum of the conference, Cui Ye, Director of Unmanned Driving Technology at DFMC’s Intelligent Mining Business Unit, delivered a presentation titled "Practical Experience Sharing on Unmanned Operation of Drill Rigs in Open-Pit Mines."
Cui Ye explained that current industry standards for intelligent mines, as well as the practical needs of production, have set strict requirements for the unmanned operation of mines and, in particular, drill rigs. Anticipating industry trends, DFMC independently developed an unmanned drill rig system and collaborated with China Coal Pingshuo Group to create China’s first unmanned drill rig.
The system is capable of multiple functions, including automatic alignment, hole layout, drilling, hole depth detection, remote control, and one-click manual takeover. It effectively addresses key challenges associated with traditional drill rigs, such as high labor dependency, significant safety risks, and heavy operational costs.
The system has been appraised by the China Association of Work Safety for its technological achievements and was recognized as being at the international leading level. It is now widely applied at production sites of Jiangxi Copper Group, Benxi Steel Group, Pingzhuang Coal Industry Group, and Xinjiang Energy Group, helping enterprises achieve unmanned mining operations and significantly enhancing the intrinsic safety of mining production.
During the conference, experts from numerous companies—including Jiangxi Copper Group, Jinchuan Group, Tongling Nonferrous Metals Group, Shandong Gold Group, CNNC Mining Technology Group, Dabaoshan Mining, and China Molybdenum—visited the DFMC booth to exchange ideas. They engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as unmanned drill rig operation, intelligent analysis, and beneficiation optimization, further deepening mutual understanding and laying a solid foundation for future collaboration.
