On June 4, the 2025 (21st) China Nonferrous Metals Mining Conference, jointly hosted by the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association and Western Mining Group, was held in Xining, Qinghai Province.Themed "Innovation-Driven Development, Green Growth, Digital Intelligence Leadership, and Building a Shared Future," the conference brought together nearly 1,000 representatives from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, industry associations, research institutions, and mining enterprises to explore high-quality development paths for the sector.DFMC was invited to attend the conference and hosted the Smart Mining Sub-forum.
At the main forum, Lü Tao, Director of DFMC' s Smart Mining Design Research Institute, delivered a presentation titled "Digital Empowerment & Intelligence-Driven: Building the Core Technological Foundation for Smart Mines."He elaborated on the company's intelligent sensing technologies in mining and beneficiation processes, as well as the emerging business model integrating intelligent technologies with management, which received high recognition from industry experts.
As a leading player in the smart mining industry, DFMC presented at the conference under the theme "Digital Intelligence Pioneering New Frontiers in Nonferrous Metals," showcasing its technological advancements in smart sensing, intelligent equipment, AI large-model control, and smart management - featuring its exclusively MIIT-selected advanced applicable smart mining solutions, as well as core products including unmanned truck systems for open-pit mines, online neutron activation elemental analyzers (for potash mines), online elemental analyzers for copper mines, AI-based grinding and beneficiation large models, and predictive maintenance systems, demonstrating its full-process coverage capabilities across the mining value chain; meanwhile, the company also introduced to attendees its two benchmark smart mining projects for Western Mining Group - the Yulong Copper Mine and Xitieshan Lead-Zinc Mine, with the Yulong project being appraised by the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association as reaching internationally advanced levels and earning high recognition from numerous mining enterprises.
On the afternoon of June 4, the "Smart Mining" sub-forum hosted by DFMC featured remarkable highlights and engaging sessions, chaired by the company's General Manager Zhao Hongtao, with keynote presentations and in-depth discussions by distinguished experts and corporate leaders including Gu Qinghua, Dean of Resources Engineering College at Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology; Hui Xin, Deputy Director of the Integration and Development Institute at the China Industrial Internet Research Institute; Qi Shengyue, Vice Chief Engineer of Western Mining Group; Meng Qingyin, General Manager of Luming Mining; Wei Yongxi, Deputy Dean of the Industrial Institute at Lanzhou Design & Research Institute of Metallurgy; and Zhang Hao, Chairman of Shougang Boron Iron, focusing on smart mining development trends, AI technology applications, and digital empowerment; meanwhile, Wang Long, Director of Information Technology at DFMC' s Smart Mining Design Research Institute, delivered a presentation titled "AI and DeepSeek Empowering Intelligent Mining Construction," which highlighted the application achievements of the Dongfang Tiangong large model - developed based on DeepSeek-R1 - in precision control of open-pit mining production, refined equipment management, and intelligent decision-making, demonstrating the company's profound technical expertise and leading position in this field.
During the salon session, Lü Tao, Director of DFMC' s Smart Mining Design Research Institute, Zhao Yi, Deputy Chief Engineer of China ENFI's Mining Business Unit, Chu Hanqing, General Manager of iFlytek's Smart Mining Division, and Zhai Gaoshan, General Manager of Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence, exchanged insightful perspectives on key challenges in smart mining design, pathways for AI integration in mining, and digital transformation strategies for mines. In addition, the “4th Forum on Scientific and Technological Innovation and Sustainable Development and 2025 Intelligent Mine Development Conference,” hosted by the China Mining Federation and Luming Mining, and co-organized by DFMC, will be held in Yichun, Heilongjiang Province, from June 26 to 27.
