From September 10 to 12, the 28th China International Mining Conference 2026, hosted by the China Mining Federation, was held at the Tianjin Meijiang Convention and Exhibition Center. As a leading-enterprise in China’s smart-mining sector, Dongfang Measurement & Control made a high-profile appearance with its holistic smart-mine solution exclusively shortlisted in the MIIT List of Advanced-Applicable Technologies, intelligent-equipment systems covering the full spectrum of mine production, and benchmark cases of large-scale domestic and overseas smart mines. The company also hosted the special-topic forum “AI-Driven Innovation for Smart Mines”, joining top-tier industry experts to explore new pathways for the intelligent transformation of mining industries at home and abroad. Centered on the core theme of “Win-Win Cooperation for Green and Intelligent Development”, this year’s conference gathered authoritative representatives from more than 600 mining enterprises across nearly 30 countries worldwide for in-depth discussions on key topics including resource security, green low-carbon transition and intelligent transformation. At the event, Dongfang Measurement & Control engaged in extensive exchanges and business negotiations with global mining experts and industrial-chain partners. Leveraging the conference platform, it showcased China’s innovations in mine intelligence and facilitated connections for global mining-industry resources.
One of the highlights of the conference was the forum “AI-Driven Innovation for Smart Mines” hosted by Dongfang Measurement & Control. It delivered a high-level, high-value industry exchange event and built a core communication platform spearheading AI-led innovations in mining. Cong Gechen, Vice-President of the China Mining Federation and Deputy General-Manager of Huaxia Jianlong; Jiang Shengcai, Vice-President of the China Metallurgical Mines Association; Zhang Qiang, Member of the Party Leadership Group of the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association and Secretary-General of the Non-Ferrous Metals Industry Digital-Transformation Promotion Center; and Bao Liangqing, Chairman of Liaoning Dongfang Measurement & Control Group, attended and delivered speeches. Zhao Hongtao, General-Manager of Dongfang Measurement & Control, chaired the forum. Specialists from many leading mining enterprises gathered onsite to discuss prospects for high-quality mine development.
In his address, Bao Liangqing noted that smart-mine construction is far more than a simple combination of equipment and technologies; instead, it represents systematic upgrading based on top-level planning. To advance the industry, solid foundations must be laid for full-domain data perception, and proprietary AI large-models tailored to vertical mine scenarios need to be developed. Centering consistently on value creation, such efforts will help mines achieve multi-dimensional transformation featuring intrinsic safety, cost-reduction & efficiency-improvement, and green low-carbon operations, and deliver robust support for the efficient exploitation of national mineral resources.
At the forum, Dongfang Measurement & Control’s technical team delivered important technical presentations, demonstrating new models for applying AI in smart-mine practices. Lü Tao, Dean of the Smart-Mine Design & Research Institute of the company, highlighted the core strengths of self-developed platforms: the Kuanghuitong Mine Large-Model, the Reflex-Arc Expert Decision-Making Platform and the Kuangshitong AI Vision Platform. These tools address the well-known challenge that general large-models “fail to adapt” to mine-site conditions. They integrate multi-source heterogeneous data across the full mine workflow of exploration, mining, mineral-processing and management, shifting mine management from post-incident response to proactive early warning, and upgrading from isolated intelligence to global autonomous collaboration. This underpins unmanned, intelligent and digital transformation for mines.
