From July 10 to 11, the 3rd National Forum on Intelligent Mineral Processing Technologies and Equipment for Green Mines was held in Chenzhou City, Hunan Province. Dongfang Measurement & Control showcased its self-developed advanced equipment systems tailored for mineral processing as well as benchmark application cases at the forum. Addressing prominent pain points in the mineral processing sector, the company delivered proven implementable solutions to advance the intelligent transformation of mineral processing operations.
Zhao Hongtao, General Manager of the company, delivered a keynote speech titled Application and Practice of New Technologies and Products Supporting the Implementation of Mine Intelligence. He comprehensively presented the new technologies, innovative products and representative application practices rolled out by Dongfang Measurement & Control for intelligent mine construction in recent years, offering replicable advanced experience for the industry’s intelligent upgrading.
At the closing session of the forum, on behalf of the co-organizer, Zhao Hongtao delivered a summary of the event. He systematically reviewed the outcomes of the forum and issued an initiative to the entire industry, calling for joint efforts to resolve on-site production challenges, accelerate the commercialization of scientific research achievements, and improve the development of a standard system for intelligent mineral processing.

During the keynote session, Zhao Hongtao, General Manager of Dongfang Measurement & Control, delivered an in-depth sharing on new technologies and products that underpin the implementation of mine intelligence. He stated that against the backdrop of increasingly complex ore resource conditions and stricter green and low-carbon regulatory standards, mineral processing production is accelerating its shift toward digitalization and intelligence. Real-time perception, intelligent decision-making and precise control of the whole production process serve as a critical approach to boosting resource utilization efficiency and ensuring production safety.
To meet the demands of intelligent mineral processing construction, drawing on 30 years of in-depth technological accumulation in the industry, Dongfang Measurement & Control has developed an integrated intelligent mineral processing solution integrating online detection & analysis, intelligent equipment, expert control and production management. In recent years, the company has independently developed a host of innovative products including neutron activation detection stations, Intelligent Online Grinding Concentration Analyzer and Mill Monitoring System.
Relevant technological achievements have been successfully applied in multiple large-scale mine projects of domestic and overseas enterprises such as Jiangxi Copper Group, Zijin Mining, Luming Mining and BHP. On the afternoon of the 11th, all participants visited Baoshan Mining under Hunan Mineral Resources Group for an on-site inspection. As a key partner of Baoshan Mining for intelligent mineral processing construction, Dongfang Measurement & Control delivered a high-standard full-process automatic mineral processing project for the mine.
Centered on core process sections including crushing & screening, grinding & classification, flotation, reagent preparation, concentrate dewatering and tailings transportation, the project built a unified and collaborative centralized automatic control platform. Integrated with online measurement & analysis instruments such as the Ultrasonic Particle Size Analyzer and Na22 concentration meter, the system realizes real-time and accurate collection of production data, intelligent adjustment of process parameters, and centralized unified management of the whole production flow.
After project commissioning, data barriers between all production links have been effectively eliminated. Long-standing bottlenecks restricting mine production management have been resolved, including scattered equipment layout, information silos, over-reliance on manual experience, and drastic process fluctuations. The system enables interlock control of key equipment, one-click start-stop of unit groups, automatic reagent dosing for flotation, and automatic tuning of process parameters. Unattended operation has been achieved in partial work zones, greatly improving the stability, safety and management efficiency of production operations.
At the project site, the X-ray Fluorescent Elemental Analyzer from Dongfang Measurement & Control, the core sensing device of the automatic mineral processing system, drew intensive attention from visiting guests. It delivers stable detection results for key elements such as lead and zinc across raw ore, concentrate and tailings process points, with comparative errors fully meeting target requirements. The overall system operational availability exceeds 98%.
Even under complex working conditions including fluctuating ore properties and equipment maintenance, the analyzer maintains strong adaptability. It shifts mineral processing process control from "post-event analysis and remediation" to "real-time online optimization", substantially boosting resource recovery rate and the stability of mineral processing indicators. Industry specialists at the site commented that Dongfang Measurement & Control’s cutting-edge technological achievements and mature engineering practices in intelligent mineral processing construction offer a replicable and promotable model for the entire mining sector.
During the forum, leaders and experts from enterprises, research institutes and universities including Jiangxi Copper Group, Shandong Gold Group, Baowu Resources, Zhongjin Lingnan, Ansteel Mining, Hegang Mining, Shougang Mining, Chonggang Mining, China ENFI Engineering Corporation, Changsha Research Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and Central South University visited the booth of Dongfang Measurement & Control. They held in-depth discussions with the company’s technical team on topics such as large-scale application of intelligent mineral processing equipment, iterative innovation of online detection and analysis technologies, and artificial intelligence-driven optimization of mineral processing processes. The exchanges laid a solid foundation for further deepening technical cooperation and accelerating the implementation of intelligent mine projects in the future.
