From May 13 to 14, the 2026 China (Laizhou) Gold Industry Collaborative Innovation Development Conference—co-hosted by the China Gold Association and the Shandong Provincial Gold Association—was successfully held in Laizhou City, Shandong Province. As a leading enterprise in the smart mining sector, Dongfang Measurement & Control participated with its holistic smart mine solution officially recognized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology for industry-wide promotion. The company systematically showcased its latest achievements in end-to-end digitalization and intelligent transformation across the entire mining workflow, offering advanced and reliable technical pathways to drive the gold industry’s shift from process automation to high-level data-driven intelligence. Zhao Hongtao, General Manager of the company, was invited to attend the conference.

The conference centered on core themes including collaborative innovation across the gold industry chain, resource security assurance, and green, intelligent transformation. It brought together over 600 leading experts from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, competent government authorities, industry associations, key mining enterprises, universities, and research institutions to jointly explore high-quality development pathways for the gold industry amid resource constraints and transformation pressures

Currently, gold production is challenged by declining ore grades, complex deposit conditions, and mounting pressure for emission reduction, placing higher demands on intelligent, green, and refined production and management. In response to these industry needs, Dongfang Measurement & Control has developed a holistic smart mine solution centered on “data-intelligence driven” operations, establishing an integrated intelligent system spanning the entire workflow of “mining–processing–management”:

On the mining front, the deployment of unmanned drilling rig systems and intelligent dispatch management systems for open-pit mine vehicles enables autonomous drilling operations and optimized haulage routing, significantly boosting operational efficiency while reducing risks associated with human intervention. On the mineral processing front, a real-time perception framework is established—incorporating intelligent online analyzers for grinding density, online ultrasonic particle size monitors, and online laser elemental analyzers—to achieve continuous online detection and analysis of pulp density, particle size, and element grades. At the management and control layer, the full-process intelligent control system for mineral processing and the Mine Manufacturing Execution System (MES) bridge production data links, realizing closed-loop control from sensing and analysis to execution.

Among them, the laser online elemental analyzer serves as a key sensing device, integrating Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) technology with intelligent modeling algorithms to enable multi-stream, multi-element online detection capabilities. This equipment achieves high-precision identification of ultra-low-content elements under complex working conditions, reflects in real time changes in gold ore grade and shifts in ore types, and provides immediate data support for process parameter adjustments, thereby enhancing product quality and resource utilization efficiency right from the source.

At the Smart Gold Mine Forum, Bi Wen, Deputy Director of the Intelligent Mine Design & Research Institute of Dongfang Measurement & Control, delivered a presentation titled “Data-Driven Smart Gold Refining — Online Analysis Technology Empowering the Construction of Lights-Out Plants in Gold Mineral Processing.”  

He noted that the gold industry is currently undergoing a critical transformation: on one hand, high-grade ore bodies are gradually depleting, placing sustained upward pressure on costs; on the other, safety, environmental protection, and intelligent policy requirements continue to rise. He emphasized that the core capability of future gold mineral processing will no longer lie in individual equipment or isolated automation levels, but rather in achieving full-process data closure based on online detection and analysis.  

The “lights-out plant” intelligent mineral processing solution developed by Dongfang Measurement & Control adopts a three-tier architecture — Perception Layer, Analysis & Decision Layer, and Execution Layer — enabling real-time acquisition of data such as grade, particle size, and concentration, along with intelligent modeling analysis and adaptive process control. This drives the evolution of production systems from localized optimization toward global collaborative optimization. Under guaranteed safety conditions, the system further enables reduced-manning or even unmanned production, while simultaneously achieving multiple objectives: cost reduction, efficiency improvement, stable quality output, and green, low-carbon operations.

During the conference, experts from major industry players including China Railway Construction Corporation, Shandong Gold Group, Jiangxi Copper Guoxing, Huawei Oil & Gas Mining Task Force, Xinhai Mining, Meiansen, Inspur Industry, Jinpeng Mining Machinery, and Yantai Ji'an Electronics engaged in in-depth discussions with the technical team of Dongfang Measurement & Control. The exchanges focused on key topics such as low-grade ore processing, multi-source data fusion, and full-process production intelligence, laying a solid foundation for jointly advancing the large-scale application of related technologies across a broader range of metal mining scenarios.
